Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The manuscript follows APA 7th edition formatting and is submitted as a Microsoft Word document.
  • All identifying information has been removed from the manuscript file to ensure a blind review.
  • An abstract (150–250 words) and 4–6 keywords are included.
  • The author has prepared a Title Page with all author names, affiliations, and contact information.
  • Figures and tables are embedded or included at the end with appropriate labels.
  • References follow APA 7th edition formatting.

Author Guidelines

We welcome submissions from:

  • Faculty and researchers in education and related fields
  • Graduate students (with faculty co-authorship encouraged)
  • Education professionals and practitioners
  • Interdisciplinary scholars with research relevant to education and human development

Writing Standards and Expectations

Submissions to JIEHD should exemplify scholarly rigor, clarity, and originality. Authors are expected to:

  • Demonstrate Original Thought: Present unique perspectives and insights that contribute meaningfully to the fields of education and human development.
  • Engage in Critical Analysis: Employ critical thinking to analyze and synthesize information, avoiding mere summaries of existing literature.
  • Maintain Clarity and Coherence: Ensure that arguments are logically structured and articulated in clear, concise language.
  • Adhere to Academic Integrity: Properly cite all sources and avoid plagiarism in any form.
  • Follow APA 7th Edition Style: All manuscripts must conform to the formatting and citation guidelines of the American Psychological Association (7th edition).

Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI usage in academic work, authors must:

  • Disclose AI Assistance: If AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) were used in the development of the manuscript, authors must disclose the extent and nature of their use in a dedicated section of the manuscript.
  • Ensure Human Oversight: Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy and integrity of content generated with AI assistance. AI should not replace the author's critical thinking or original contributions.
  • Avoid Unauthorized Use: The use of AI tools to generate content that violates academic integrity policies including the fabrication of data or the creation of parts or entire manuscripts is strictly prohibited.

Manuscript Preparation & Submission Guidelines

General Requirements

  • Length:
    • Empirical Research Articles (3,000–7,000 words)
    • Literature Reviews (3,000–6,000 words)
    • Case Studies (2,500–5,000 words)
    • Practitioner Articles (2,000–4,000 words)
    • Book Reviews (1,000–2,000 words)
  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Style: APA 7th Edition (American Psychological Association)
  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear, professional English.
  • Abstract: 150–250 words
  • Keywords: 4–6 descriptive keywords

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be organized as follows:

  1. Title Page
    • Title of the manuscript
    • Full names of all authors
    • Institutional affiliations
    • Contact information (email of corresponding author)
  2. Abstract and Keywords
    • An abstract (150–250 words) summarizing the purpose, methods, findings, and implications
    • 4–6 keywords for indexing and discoverability
  3. Main Text
    • Suggested sections: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion (adapt as appropriate for the manuscript type)
    • Use clear headings and subheadings to enhance readability
  4. References
    • A complete reference list formatted in accordance with APA 7th Edition
  5. Tables and Figures
    • Embed within the manuscript or include at the end
    • Each table and figure must have a title and caption
    • Ensure all visuals are referenced in the text

 

 

Empirical Research Articles

Reports of original research with clear methodology, data analysis, and findings. 

Literature Reviews

Critical analyses of existing research on a specific topic with implications for practice or future research. 

Practitioner Articles

Descriptions of innovative teaching or leadership practices with demonstrated or potential impact. 

Case Studies

In-depth analyses of individual, group, or institutional educational practices or interventions.

Book Reviews

Critical evaluations of recent publications in education and human development.
